Our Blog

Welcome, and thanks, to Joelle Mollinger and Alain Castel for their new (Obviously French) restaurant at 4223 State Street Road in Skaneateles.

Recently they moved from The Big Apple to Upstate New York and have converted a former Bed and Breakfast into Joelle’s.

From the Village Center, take State Street Road, Route 321 North past the Skaneateles Elementary School and the Community Center, past Welch Allyn and look to the left. Or call them at 315-685-3063.

Skaneateles Water Department

Village Trustee, Mark Roney, volunteers his time to “take care of business”, and, to take marvelous images of the StoryBook Village. When I asked him to use his pics, Mark said: “Of course, it’s all about the beauty”.

This is the Water Works Gate Station for the City of Syracuse, with whom we have a Love / Hate relationship. In 1794 they “bought” our water and built us the seawall and pier we enjoy (and photograph) today.

They also put out of business all the water powered factories located by the stream they diverted the water from.

 Skaneateles Village Icon

Skaneateles… is a special place. As the Mayor I welcome you to beautiful Skaneateles located at the northern end of pristine Skaneateles Lake, the eastern gateway to the Finger Lakes. The purpose of our website is to provide the public with a source of information about our village and government services.

Facts:

The village was incorporated in 1833.
We are a community rich in history and preserving an optimum quality of life.
We have a population of 2,700 people in an area of approximately one and half square miles.
Skaneateles Lake is the source of clean unfiltered drinking water for over 250,000 people.
Skaneateles schools have won numerous state and national awards.

The strength of our community has always been our residents and I hope you find this website both useful and informative. Village officials and various boards and employees value your input. If you have comments or questions, feel free to contact the Village Office at (315) 685-3440 or e-mail us at skanvillage@adelphia.net

Sincerely,

Robert Green
