Hello Friend of Auburn Public Theater,

Attached is an invitation to Auburn Public Theater’s first fundraiser in many years.  We hope that you can take part in this wonderful event and help support the theater.  We are, of course a non-profit organization, so any donations are tax deductable.  For all information regarding who we are, what we do and when we do it, please take a moment to visit our recently updated website at www.auburnpublictheater.com   Tickets can now be purchased online with no additional fee and our social networking site allows you to create your own page with APT.

We truly appreciate your support in these difficult times.

Sincerely,

Carey Eidel
Managing Director
Auburn Public Theater

orange_line_galleryGoing, Going….the OL Holiday Show, a Th3 event taking place Thursday January 15, 2009 from 5 – 10pm. Come join us while saying hello to each other in the New Year, and goodbye to the work from the Holiday Show. Refreshments will be served with plenty of good friends and great art. If you missed the work from this show, now is the chance to catch up. This show will run through Saturday January 31, 2009.

The OL Holiday Show opened to the public with a reception on Friday December 12, 2008 from 5 – 10pm. We welcomed the holidays with a colorful show of amazing new artwork from artists Jacqueline Adamo- abstract oil paintings, J. Francis Maloni- oil on board, Amber Blanding- glass sculpture, and Jennifer Cutter- jewelry. Artwork was also on display from recent artists: Jace Collins, Brandon Hall, Chris Luchsinger, Mick Mather, Melissa Tiffany, Spencer Baker, David McKenney, Debra Parry Trichilo, Jim Reed, Father Andrew and Dustin Angell.

Orange Line Gallery is a member of Third Thursday (Th3), Syracuse’s community-wide art walk…meaning we will be opening new shows and events on the third Thursday of each month. For those of you still unfamiliar with Th3, contact Orange Line or go to th3syracuse.com for more info.

December’s Th3 event,The Art of Colour, took place on Thursday December 18, 2008 from 5 – 10pm with the gallery and artwork of The OL Holiday Show illuminated with special theatrical lighting fixtures that created an amazing atmosphere of ever changing deep saturated colors of illuminations all around. Thank you all who came by and viewed artwork in a different light. Refreshments were served and this event was free and open to the public. (more…)

The film leads audiences from the icy peaks of the Himalayas to the scorching deserts and tropical rainforests all through the eyes of Neelkanth, an Indian boy on a spiritual quest.  His journey crosses through the fields, rivers and small villages, learning about the unbelievable beauty and achievements of the land and its people.

Canadice Lake, the smallest Finger Lake at only three miles longHistory in the Making!

Since the notion to create a Finger Lakes Museum was first publicized last April, we have made some tremendous progress–more than I ever imagined we would–especially in such a short period of time. We are looking forward to a continuation of that momentum in 2009, despite the economic difficulties our nation, state, and even we as individuals are facing.

The Board of Trustees has decided not to hold an organizational meeting this month. The next meeting will be scheduled for Tuesday, February 24th, when we will present our Strategic Plan and updates on the progress of our four functioning committees. Notification will be emailed to everyone several weeks in advance.

On Monday, I received notification from Albany that our application for a Provisional Museum Charter has cleared the scrutiny of the State Education Department’s legal staff and has been forwarded to the Office of Cultural Education for its consideration. From there it goes to the Board of Regents for a final decision based on the recommendation of the Cultural Office.

Initial fundraising began in December and I’m pleased to say that contributions have started to come in. Many thanks to those of you who have donated for your generosity. If you wish to make a tax-deductible contribution to the project, please make your check payable to Finger Lakes Museum Fund, and mail it to the following address:

Cynthia Kimble, Treasurer
Finger Lakes Museum Fund
309 Lake Street
Penn Yan, NY  14527

Soon there will be a mechanism added to our website, www.fingerlakesmuseum.org, which will enable contributors to make credit and debit card donations.

Best wishes for a prosperous 2009. And thanks for your interest and enthusiasm. Pass it on!

John Adamski

PS: The attached photo, Waiting for Spring, was taken at Canadice Lake–the smallest Finger Lake at only three miles long.
