Join the Fun for Downtown Auburn BID’s
24th Annual Holiday Parade & Family Fun Day
November 27th from 3 – 8PM

At 3PM the Exchange Street Mall and Genesee Center become center stage for FREE family fun before the Holiday Parade starts at 6PM. Enjoy free horse-drawn wagon rides with the Minturn family, who will be providing three wagons in an attempt to get more people on this very popular ride around the city block. Line up starts at Exchange Street and Genesee Street. Once again the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Department will be conducting their Child Photo ID Program for free. If you have a child who has not been entered into the program, or needs an updated photo, come inside the Genesee Center for this valuable community service.

On Exchange Street, listen to lively music provided by DJ Jane Stebbins, and warm up with hot cocoa provided by the Cayuga County Red Cross. Inside Genesee Center, children can play games organized by IGNITE, and Reva Rollerdrome will be showcasing break skate demonstrations and handing out coupons for discounted skating at the rink.

St. Mary’s Church Choir will perform holiday music in Genesee Center at 4PM, and Girl Scout Troop 1125 will again give away their delicious homemade cookies as well offer their official Girl Scout cookies for purchase.

At 5:30PM claim your best spot to view the Holiday Parade. The Syracuse Highland Pipe Band will make a comeback bringing their glorious music to Auburn, with lighted instruments and special songs created just for the parade. Several new float entries in the parade will be competing with the loyal participants for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place prizes. If you would like to participate in the parade with a float, marching, or with music, everyone is welcome, and it is free. Floats must have a holiday theme and can be flashy and fun or simple and sweet.

After the parade, Auburn Fire Department will host their Community Bonfire on South Street across from City Hall, and the Auburn Civic Band will play pre- and post-parade music on Exchange Street.

Auburn Public Theater is again proud to present their Disney All-Star Adult/Youth Cabaret at 7PM in the Stage Right cabaret space, featuring music from all your Disney favorites. Led by talented music teacher, Amy Bellamy, a cast of gifted children and adults brings the Disney songbook to life. Their last Disney Cabaret was sold out, so people are encouraged to purchase tickets in advance at APT. Tickets are $8 for adults; $2 for children under 12. To purchase tickets online visit: http://www.auburnpublictheater.org/liveevents.html.

Next up there’s the tree lighting ceremony led by Mayor Quill, and Santa visits will be the grand finale. Santa will be in the Genesee Center to visit with every child, so parents bring your camera. So come downtown, celebrate the holidays and enjoy the fun with the community.
