• The Museum at the Creamery will be open for Winterfest 2011. Come see one of 20
ice sculpture’s in front of our building, have some hot cocoa, and come in to learn about
ice cutting on Skaneateles Lake and see the tools and saw of the ice cutting industry that
used to flourish here. The gift shop will also be open that day. Hours: 12 PM – 3 PM on
the 29th. One of 20 Ice Sculptures on display, sponsored by Tim Lynn, Green & Seifter.
• Holy Trinity Lutheran Church at 37 W. Genesee Street will be part of a Taste of
Skaneateles this year. The Lutherans will be serving “Just Desserts” between 12:30 and 2
PM. Come enjoy assorted delectable desserts with hot coffee and tea. Try as many as you
like. There will also be an opportunity to participate in a Silent Auction and take a
fabulous dessert home with you. A suggested donation of $4 per person or $15 per family
will be collected at the door.

American Heart Association Snake Oil

We will have our next First Friday event on February 4, 2011 from 5-9 pm, that day is also the American Heart Association’s (AHA) Wear Red Day. In support of the AHA and their Go Red For Women & Children’s Health Campaign, we will be dedicating that day to raising awareness and money for the cause.

In addition to the special red items for sale in the gallery, there will be a silent auction of some items that have been donated by local artists and businesses. Auction items will vary from jewelry crafted by local artists to a bowl of pate’ from Joelle’s French Bistro. The high point will be the live auction of two pieces as they are being made in the Hot Shop. You will be able to stand and watch as the pieces take shape and bid on them.

All proceeds from the live auction and silent auction will go directly to the American Heart Association. We will have red food and drinks for our guests along with a small red glass gift item for those who attend wearing red.

…. that in the year 1900, three Syracuse-born brothers, Sam, Lee and Jacob J. Shubert, founded the Shubert Organization that was responsible for the acquisition of thousands of theaters and productions of Broadway shows in New York City. By 1916, the Shuberts became the nation’s most important and powerful theater owners and managers; by the 1920′s, the Shubert’s owned, managed or booked over 1,000 playhouses across the United States. This organization currently owns and operates 16 Broadway theaters in New York City as well as others in Boston, Philadelphia and Washington DC. They are represented by a star on Syracuse’s Walk of Fame that is located just outside the Landmark Theatre.
