Wednesday, April 20 – Sunday, May 29 – Made in NY – Schweinfurth Art Center, 205 Genesee St., Auburn. Annual juried exhibit of NYS artists. Exhibited works typically include painting, drawing, printmaking, photography, and sculpture created within the last three years. Suggested adult admission $3. Wednesday, April 20 – Sunday, May 1 – Two Hundred Years of Partnership: First Presbyterian Church and the Community – Cayuga Museum, 203 Genesee St., Auburn. The exhibition, features photographs, paintings, documents and mementos from the Church dating back to 1811. The show traces the important people, places and events that defined the institution from when it first opened on North and Fulton streets, to when the steeple came down on the second building in 1973, to its modern facility on South Street. www.cayuganet.org/cayugamuseum (315) 253-8051

Monday, April 18 – Friday, April 22 – Spring Art Break – Schweinfurth Art Center, 205 Genesee St., Auburn. Art breaks incorporate high quality art making instruction with art history, gallery visits, class discussion, and other unique art-based experiences. Sign your child up for a day or the whole week. Age 6-8 – Illustration and collage activities will show students that a picture is worth a thousand words. Age 9-12 – Make art with hermit crabs, sand, and materials found in nature. 9:30-11:30am. Wednesday, April 20 – A Child’s View of Life in a Forest Puddle – Sterling Nature Center, Jensvold Rd (Vernal Pool), Sterling. Join Naturalist Jim D’Angelo and his daughter for a Child’s View of the vernal pools at the Sterling Nature Center. Vernal pools are small wetlands that temporarily fill with water providing essential habitat for frogs, salamanders, turtles and even a few snakes!!! We will do some hands on exploring of these unique wetlands looking for spotted salamanders, fairy shrimp, tadpoles, insects and other wildlife that utilize them. A short slideshow presentation will be conducted before the outdoor nature study of the vernal pools. Friday, April 22 – Woodland Wildflower Walk – Sterling Nature Center, Jensvold Rd., Sterling. Treat yourself and a friend to some of Mother Nature’s spring beauties, trillium, hepatica and other woodland wildflowers this Earth Day. Join Naturalist Jim D’Angelo for a walk along the trails of the Sterling Nature Center for a look at some of Mother Nature’s beautiful woodland wildflowers. Identification, natural history and interesting fact about the spring woodland wildflowers will be discussed on this walk. Thursday, April 28 – William Henry Seward’s Remarkable Plan to Save the Nation from the Civil War – Auburn Public Theater, 8 Exchange St., Auburn. April 2011 marks the beginning of a four year celebration across the United States honoring the 150th anniversary of the Civil War. Seward House launches its festivities with a lecture by historian Larry Denton on Thursday April 28th at 7 pm at the Auburn Public Theater. Denton’s talk, William H.
