Wednesday, June 1 – September 4 – The Cost of Freedom: Cayuga County in the Civil War – Cayuga Museum, 203 Genesee St., Auburn. The Cayuga Museum honors the 150th anniversary of the start of the Civil War with an original exhibit focusing on the experiences of local people during the conflict. The Museum’s own important collection of Civil War artifacts will be enhanced with treasured heirlooms loaned by local families: photographs, letters, uniforms, weapons and much more. Saturday, June 4 – Flavor of the Finger Lakes – Emerson Park, 6914 East Lake Rd., Auburn. 1st Annual Flavor of the Finger Lakes event runs from Noon-4:30pm. Anything Goes, Merry-Go-Rounds first show of the season, will be highlighted. Featured will be 10 food vendors, 8 wineries and 5 local creameries. Using original family correspondence and journals, the tour enables visitors to hear the words and feelings of the nineteenth-century women of the Seward family and reveals the significant contributions they made during their lives. 1PM. Sunday, June 5 – Motorcycle Ride Around Owasco Lake – Willard Memorial Chapel, 17 Nelson St., Auburn. The Community Preservation Committee will host a benefit motorcycle ride around Owasco Lake on Sunday, June 5. Participants should meet at Willard Chapel, 17 Nelson Street, Auburn, at 9:00 AM. The ride will start at 9:30 AM. Lunch will be provided at Willard Chapel at 11:30 AM. The cost is $25 per person. Tickets and further information can be obtained at the Willard Chapel Office, or by calling 252-0339. Rain date is June 12. A comical story of a young man’s adventures as he travels the world in search of his one true love. Candide is inspired by Voltaire’s wickedly satirical novel. Mary Lorson has been composing, recording and performing for twenty years with the alternative-rock group Madder Rose and the alternative-jazz project Saint Low. She also composes original music for film, including the documentary What Remains, and for TV in The Sopranos. This presentation will be based on their class project which was completed to help augment the new village website.
