February 12th – The Life of Harriet Tubman: A Spiritual Journey Through Music – Willard Memorial Chapel, 17 Nelson St., Auburn. The Syracuse Chapter of the Gospel Music Workshop of America (SGMWA), under the direction of Dr. Joan R. Hillsman, will present a concert of inspired African music and Negro spirituals to honor and celebrate the life of Harriet Tubman. Co-sponsored by the Harriet Tubman Boosters Club, this event will feature music composed and directed by Dr. Hillsman, and performed by members of the Syracuse Chapter of the Gospel Music Workshop of America. Along the way he gets shipwrecked off Easter Island, surfs the longest wave of his life – and prepares himself for a rare ascent of Cerro Corcovado.
