The Cayuga County Office of Tourism is open from 9:00am – 5:00pm Monday through Friday. 

January 29th – March 18th – Both Ends of the Rainbow – Schweinfurth Memorial Art Center, 205 Genesee St., Auburn.  This annual exhibition will feature over 1,000 works of art by local students and senior citizens from Cayuga County.  www.myartcenter.org                 315-255-1553 

February 8th – May 5th – “Stepping Out:  Dancing in Cayuga County”.  Cayuga Museum of History & Art, 203 Genesee St., Auburn.  The exhibit explores social, folk and the fine art of dance as well as showcases our local dance schools and studios.  www.cayuganet.org/cayugamuseum  315-253-8051

February 17th & 18th – “180 Degrees South” – Auburn Public Theater, 8 Exchange St., Auburn.  ’Conquerors of the Useless’ follows Jeff Johnson as he retraces the epic 1968 journey of his heroes Yvon Chouinard and Doug Tompkins to Patagonia. Along the way he gets shipwrecked off Easter Island, surfs the longest wave of his life – and prepares himself for a rare ascent of Cerro Corcovado. Jeff’s life turns when he meets up in a rainy hut with Chouinard and Tompkins who, once driven purely by a love of climbing and surfing, now value above all the experience of raw nature – and have come to Patagonia to spend their fortunes to protect it.  2/10, 1 & 8pm, 2/11 8pm.  Tickets $5. www.auburnpublictheater.org  315-253-6669

February 18th & 19th – 10th Annual Mardi Gras – Cayuga Lake Wine Trail – Celebrate with us by attending our 10th Anniversary Mardi Gras event along the Cayuga Lake Wine Trail by receiving a specialty anniversary set of beads.  Experience the frivolity as you go from winery to winery receiving other Mardi Gras Beads, a chance to pick the lucky coin for instant prizes plus participate in a scavenger hunt for a sampler case of fine wines from the trail.  10am-5pm.  Start at King Ferry Winery, Long Point Winery, and visit others on the Cayuga Wine Trail. February 22nd – Where Have All the Insects Gone? – Sterling Nature Center, 15730 Jensvold Road, off Route 104A, Sterling.  School Break Program.  Have you ever wondered what happens to all the insects in winter?  Join Naturalist Jim D’Angelo for this unique program on wintering insects.  There will be an inside presentation on the strategies insects use to survive the long, cold central NY winters, followed by a walk to seek out some of the wintering insects. February 24th & 25th – “Happy Happy” – Auburn Public Theater, 8 Exchange St., Auburn.  The tangy Norwegian comedy “’Happy, Happy” is a romantic lark about optimism and infidelity that begins each of its many-chaptered stories with four Norwegian guys outfitted in what look like a series of bad wedding suits and singing gospel tunes.  The gospel singers’ performances are so zesty and the lyrics do sort of set the stage for what will happen next, that you’re kind of happy, happy every time they show up.  2/24, 1 & 8pm, 2/25 8pm.  Tickets $5 online, $6 at the door.  www.auburnpublictheater.org  315-253-6669

February 25th – Lucy Kaplansky – Auburn Public Theater, 8 Exchange St., Auburn.  New York songwriter Lucy Kaplansky is becoming the troubadour laureate of modern city folk.’ —The Boston Globe.  <br>   Lucy harmonized on Colvin’s Grammy-winning Steady On, Nanci Griffith’s Lone Star State of Mind and Little Love Affairs, and four of John Gorka’s albums.
