Mother Nature is in her spring glory at Sycamore Hill Gardens, 2130 Old Seneca Turnpike, Marcellus. Every year on Mother’s Day, the owners of these magnificent 30+ acres of private gardens open their gates to the public in support of Baltimore Woods Nature Center.
An exhibit and sale of fine art from recognized area artists takes place in the greenhouse. Enjoy a full day in this beautiful setting— picnic, feed the Koi fish, navigate the maze, and sound the gong and bells, all while admiring the flowers and flowering trees. Picnicking is encouraged. Bring Mom and the family to the Gardens rain or shine for a special day celebrating nature.
Tickets are $5 through May 4th and $10 after.
Children under 8, free admission.

Plant Sale at The Woods

Native plants, other perennials, herbs, and hanging baskets¬—the variety and quality you want for your garden can be found right here at Baltimore Woods.
A list of the native plants specially grown for The Woods by Phoenix Flower Farm and Crazy Daisies is posted at www.baltimorewoods.org. The many natives being offered this year include both red and white trillium! On Friday, the sale is open to Baltimore Woods members only. During the public sale on Saturday there will be raffles and food available.
There is no admission fee and parking is free. The event takes place rain or shine.

5, 6, 12, 13 Weekend Wildflower Walks
Baltimore Woods’ premier woodland wildflower garden is a local treasure. Join caretaker Audrey Loewer for a pleasant walk through one of the wonders of spring. Each week new species will bloom, and Audrey will reveal their past and present medicinal and culinary uses. The garden is handicap accessible; please call ahead if you need assistance. Donations appreciated.

Join a Naturalist for a walk along Baltimore Brook in search of signs of spring. $5 for members; $8 for nonmembers.
11 Star Party: Early Summer Skies

Now that it’s getting warmer, come out and take a look at the wonderful sights in the night sky without having to struggle with snow and the cold. Venus will be a large crescent, Mars and Saturn will be large and bright along with early views of the summer Milky Way rising in the east. $5 for members; $15/family; $8 for nonmembers, $25/family.
26 Container Gardening Workshop
Enjoy the wonders of fresh food from the garden without the need for a lot of space or weeding. Practically anything grown in a traditional garden can be raised in containers, with less work. Join Educator Katie as she shares her knowledge of container gardening. You’ll mix soil and take home your very own “Salad Bowl” garden! Bring one medium, 6” deep pot, gardening gloves, and trowel. $20 for members; $30 for nonmembers.
