I hope this finds you well. I’m just dropping you note to let you know about an opening that’s happening at the Edgewood Gallery that I just heard about and I thought you may be interested in. You may recall the work of Wendy Harris from the retail gallery on Jordan Street a few years ago. She’s been very productive lately and has started to move towards larger formats. Her pastels reflect the local landscapes in a classic impressionist style with her own unique talent’s coming through in the use of subtle and unexpected colors that work to support and deepen the often over-simplified colors found in such landscapes. Her work features rolling landscapes of the Fingerlakes and surrounding areas as well as some closer architectural studies. The common elements that strike me in her work are a fascinating vibrancy and depth of color. I’ve seen in some of her newest works the addition of newer techniques through the use of reflections which offers a new dimension. In the larger format, the works become more peaceful as there are larger uninterrupted swaths of color and light to sink into. This new work is largely the product of her spectacular residency at the Vermont Studio Center. I’ll be attending the opening as a guest. I would love to say hi to some of you that I haven’t seen in a while and introduce myself to those of you I may not have met yet. Wendy Harris – Pastels Have a great weekend!
