Best-selling author, retired National Football League player, journalist, television personality and Skaneateles resident Tim Green will speak Thursday in Oswego in support of the Oswego Public Library’s restoration project and to mark the library’s 150th anniversary.
“I like to choose things that are near and dear to my heart when it comes to assisting with fundraising events,” said Green. “I have helped out with other local Upstate New York libraries and when I got a call from a friend asking to help out in Oswego, it was an easy request to say yes to.”
Green will participate in the dinner event at The American Foundry in Oswego 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. A pre-event book signing will be held for his newest novel, “American Outrage,” from 5 -6 p.m. at the river’s end bookstore. The event is being sponsored by PathFinder Bank.

Frontline Staff Familiarization Tour, June 14th The Office of Tourism is organizing a familiarization tour for frontline tourism staff. The purpose of this tour is to educate staff that interact with our visitors on a regular basis – front desk and box office personnel, docents, wait staff, wine tasting room employees and others – about area attractions, restaurants, and hotels so they can better assist visitors to our county. This year the tour will begin in Auburn and travel through Niles and Moravia, stopping along the way at Niles Country Gourmet Market, the Village of Moravia, including Fillmore Glen State Park and the Cascade Grille on the shores of Owasco Lake. During lunch a “Tools for Tourism” session will be held to teach participants about the services, maps, brochures, event and attraction information available through the Cayuga County Office of Tourism. This tour is FREE and open to all frontline tourism staff, however, space is limited and reservations will be taken on a first-come, first-serve basis. For more information, contact Meg Vanek at email@example.com.
