Syracuse Opera presents Puccini’s “La Boheme”

La Bohème features large replicas of Impressionist art and posters as part of the scenery; and a series of art song recitals based on works of art in the exhibit to be performed in the galleries and in the Everson Museum’s Hosmer Auditorium.

La Bohème will be performed on October 23 and 25, 2009, in the John H. Mulroy Civic Center Theaters at Oncenter. The central work in Turner to Cézanne is Renoir’s La Parisienne. The Syracuse Opera plans to recreate Renoir’s art onstage as one of Mimi’s costumes.

Adriana Zabala has created a program called “L’heure exquise”, musical impressions from Turner to Cézanne that pairs 10 works in the exhibit with art songs by Elgar, Debussy, Ravel, Fauré and Duparc set to the poetry of Verlaine, Hugo and Moréas, among others.

There will be performances both in the galleries with the actual paintings and in the Everson’s recital hall where we will project images of the paintings. The recitals will take place in mid-November, in collaboration with the Everson Museum’s exhibition schedule.

Help us celebrate Onondaga County’s Convention & Visitors Bureau’s prestigious Pinnacle Award -

and bring your colleagues!

The Syracuse Convention & Visitors Bureau (SCVB) has some excellent news to share. We invite you and your colleagues to join us as we celebrate our seventh year of being awarded Successful Meetings Magazine prestigious Pinnacle Award. The SCVB is the only CVB in New York State to receive the coveted award this year. On October 7, 2009 at 10 a.m., a representative of Successful Meetings will present the 2009 Pinnacle Award to the staff of the SCVB. We invite our friends and colleagues to witness this impressive industry endorsement and celebrate the continued success of the bureau. You may be interested in what some of our clients have said about the SCVB’s services:

“The Syracuse CVB is an invaluable asset to the Syracuse Nationals, and a key reason why we have grown to one of the largest car shows in the US. Our success is a direct result of the CVB having the tools, and professional staff necessary to effectively communicate and engage the people and businesses of Syracuse.”

-Bob O’Connor, Right Coast Association/Syracuse Nationals

“We were impressed with the level of support available from contacting hotels, nametag creation, to staffing our registration table. If we become involved with planning another event we will definitely contact your staff. You definitely “surprised” us in a very good way!”

-Pauline Lynch Shostack, SUNY Librarians Association
