Togethering, Girl’s Night Out, whatever you call it, think of Vitamins for the Soul.
We see a lot of this at Skaneateles Suites. Likely it’s because the The Bungalows are so well suited for ‘gathering’ as well as sleeping. No doubt the Main House is a favorite for groups up to eight.
Some recent examples:
Two College roomates ‘meet in the middle’ every year to fondly remember all that was all those years ago. Mary is from Ottowa, Sheila from Ohio. Both at the Suites, We sent them to the Charlie Major Nature Trail. Both left with a smile.
Three wives and moms from Rochester, all had babies on the same day in the same hospital 15 years ago. They took one 2-bed BUngalow, but one slept in the tub because the other two snore. We sent them to dinner at Joe’s Pasta Garage with a ‘note’ from the Suites, Joe bought them dessert. I recommended they turn their cell phone <off>, that the kid’s call could wait. They agreed and did.
Here is a good one; three fathers brought their 5 college-age daughters for a weekend of Togethering. (Each daughter more drop dead gorgeous than the other, I might add.) We got them invited to the 40th Aniversary Celebration of a local Boat Line Comapny. They didn’t know a soul, or even what the celebration was about. Nor did they care. They ate and drank and mingled and had a ball.

A husband and wife stay with us in a Jacuzzi Suite fairly often. They order take-out and eat right in the room. We give them early arrival, they always are late checking out. I guess it takes them a long time to eat. But here is the thing; their home is 1/2 mile away.
The list goes on, but the storyline is all the same.
Togethering, like Vitamins for the Soul.

Event: Exhibit: The Object and Beyond: 2008 Everson Biennial
Location: Everson Museum, 401 Harrison St., Syracuse
For More Info: 315-474 6064 Website: www.everson.org
In celebration of the 2008 Everson Biennial the Everson has devoted the entire second floor of the Museum to the display of current artwork created by artists from the Central New York region. This year’s call for entries elicited a strong response from artists of all ages and diverse practices. More than 266 artists residing in the Central New York region submitted more than 1,000 works for consideration by juror Edward Winkleman. Winkleman is an independent curator and director of Winkleman Gallery in Chelsea, New York who specializes in contemporary art. He selected works by 55 artists for the exhibition which will occupy all four galleries on the second floor of the Museum.
Artists represented in the exhibition are diverse in their practices as well as their techniques, materials, and presentation. Winkleman’s eye was on the look out for fine quality and craftsmanship and his goal was to showcase the broad spectrum of artwork being produced in the Central New York community from traditional to conceptual art.
Winkleman will also select an artist to receive the Best-of-Show Award, the winner of which will be offered a solo exhibition at the Everson in 2010. The winner will be announced at the Opening Night reception on Friday, June 13.
The 2008 Everson Biennial has grown out of a long tradition of regional exhibitions held in Syracuse beginning as early as 1902. Since 1974, the Biennial has evolved into a showcase for the work of artists in Central New York State, offering a rich survey of the vibrant art scene that thrives in this region.
