World Renowned Pianists Emanuel Ax and Yefim Bronfman bring their brilliant virtuosity to
Crouse-Hinds Theater at
John H. Mulroy Civic Center Theaters at Oncenter
Syracuse, New York
Wednesday, November 5, 2008 at 8:00 pm
These two titans of the piano will join forces for a rare concert celebrating musical companionship and expressiveness at its finest. Emanuel Ax, long considered one of the leading pianists of his generation, is renowned not only for his brilliant technique, but also for his poetic temperament and constant focus on bringing a wide repertoire of great music to life. The Los Angeles Times comments, “within minutes, we are captured by his intensity and pianistic achievement.”
“Ax displayed a creamy technique, played with breathtaking ease, yet one where each note had meaning and purpose… fingers like butterflies kissing the keys… effortless style,” states the Pittsburgh Post Gazette.
In this highly anticipated performance, Ax partners with fellow Grammy Award-winning pianist Yefim Bronfman, widely regarded as one of the most talented virtuoso pianists performing today. His commanding technique and exceptional lyrical gifts have won him consistent critical acclaim worldwide. The New York Times writes, “He has technique to burn… extraordinary insight into most every style.” “Something of a miracle… fire-eating virtuosity at the keyboard,” states The Wall Street Journal.
The concert is made possible by the Regina F. Goldenberg Memorial Fund. The Fund was created at Temple Concord by Marvin Goldenberg in honor of his late wife, Regina, whose love and support for the arts was a deep, lifelong and personal passion. He generously endowed this fund in her name and charged the Temple with bringing important music, cultural and artistic programs to the Greater Syracuse area. A prior concert featuring Yitzhak Perlman sold out. Proceeds of concerts benefit Temple Concord. Chaired by Lucille Markson, the Regina F. Goldenberg Cultural Committee members include:
All proceeds benefit the Goldenberg Memorial Fund and Temple Concord. Tickets may be purchased at the Civic Center at the OnCenter box office or in person at Temple Concord, by calling 435-2121, and by purchasing online at ticketmaster.com.
