| The Skaneateles Historical Society is a nonprofit volunteer organization dedicated to preserving the history of Skaneateles. Stop to learn why we hate Eli Whitney and are not too fond of Syracuse. | The John D. Barrow Art Gallery is a single-artist gallery containing the works of John D. Barrow (1824–1906), a second generation Hudson River School style painter. | NYFalls. They have captured images of waterfalls, including our own Carpenters Falls, that you can view from your computer. Better yet, buy their book. Even better, see the Falls for yourself. It can be tricky finding them, so stop at our office for directions.Further, The Finger Lakes Land Trust is doing some very vauluable stuff about preserving our nature. | |

While we realize this might not rise to the National news, we live here and our identity is at stake. Small wonder that this debate consumes us all. We cannot agree amongst ourselves about the Indian derivation meaning of Skaneateles. Conventional wisdom is that it means: “long, beautiful lake” but there is another argument it means: “long, lanky squaw who likes to make of babies”. Ha! I like the latter. |
The Merry-Go-Round Playhouse, Inc. is a professional, not-for-profit theatre comprised of two unique creative entities with a combined budget of $2.4 million: The Merry-Go-Round Playhouse Musical Theatre and the Merry-Go-Round Youth Theatre.
