Fun Fact about the Syracuse area …did you know…

… that beer brewing has a long and venerable history in Syracuse.  Commercial brewing began around 1800 and by 1880 about forty breweries had been established in Syracuse. The number of breweriesbegan to decline in the late 1800′s.  In the late 1800’s Haberle Brewery, established in 1855, purchased three smaller breweries in Syracuse (Kearney’s, Crystal Spring and National) making them one of the larger and better known Syracuse breweries.  Haberle was also the first brewery to use Skaneateles Lake water.  The statue of Gambrinus (the mythical god of beer) stood atop the Haberle Brewery looking over the northside.
