Armed with only curiosity and a camera, dynamic couple Sarah and Greg test the compassion of Americans by relying on the kindness of strangers for a home each night. They spend every day in a new town, hoping that someone will be generous enough to open their home to two young strangers.
Following a route conceived when Greg spoke out in his sleep, the couple is literally chasing a dream through the five towns in the country called Bear – spanning between Washington, Idaho, Arizona, Arkansas, and Delaware.
Led by Sarah and Greg through a vast landscape of geography and characters, the film expands to paint a portrait of Americans as a community, and to answer questions about the people who aren’t us and the places that aren’t our homes. From the daughter of the last warrior woman of the Cheyenne mountain tribe in Montana; to a mother in Idaho dealing with the recent death of her youngest daughter; to friends in Mississippi trying to understand the “country” stereotype, maybe even reclaim it – each character is eager to share their own story. Ultimately, the film presents a cross-section of Americans yearning for connection, and able to find it in the kindness of strangers.

Moody McCarthy is a stand-up comedian who has performed on Letterman, Jimmy Kimmel, Last Comic Standing, and Star Search. He lives in New York City with his wife and step-dog.
Moody began his career in his hometown of Syracuse, NY, in the 1900s. Many who witnessed his early performances forecast stardom. Moody proved those people wrong.
After six years Moody moved to New York City, where those who heard his jokes predicted he’d be courted by A-list producers as a writer. That has not happened.
But after 20+ years honing his craft, Moody has steadily gained the respect of his peers and audiences everywhere. With unpredictable material, a disarming presence, and in-the-moment chops, here is a comic who thrives in any venue and will brighten any event.
Tickets go on sale 7/1. 8pm performance.
Our Sunday Music Series features local and regional upcoming artists. Alison and Zoë are two Irish-born sisters. They are singer-songwriters who create enchanting harmonies and weave stories with their poetic original songs. They share songs in living rooms, on trains and buses, around fires, on stages, and mostly anywhere else that you might meet them. They are currently working on their first all original album entitled “Emerge.” They hope to one day travel the world sharing their music and learning songs from different cultures.
