Plant Sale at The Woods Features Native Plants
MARCELLUS, NY: The plant sale at Baltimore Woods Nature Center, 4007 Bishop Hill Road, Marcellus, NY will take place on Friday and Saturday, May 18th and 19th, 2012.
Both days feature native plants grown especially for The Woods by Phoenix Flower Farm and Crazy Daisies. A list of the natives available at the sale is posted at baltimorewoods.org and includes ferns, shrubs spring and summer blooming perennials including red and white trilliums. This is an excellent opportunity to incorporate hard to find native plants into your garden design.
Other plants available for purchase include hanging baskets, herbs, and other shrubs and perennials. Everything needed for the garden can be found in the excellent variety and quality of plants offered in this sale by The Woods.
On Friday, May 18th the sale is open to Members of Baltimore Woods Only and is held from 4-7pm. There will be tastings from Lakeland Winery and Empire Brewing. A gift of an American Chestnut seed ready to plant will be given to members. Become a member of The Woods and come to the advance sale be first to select among the plants you are looking for.
On Saturday, May 19th from 9am to 2pm the sale is open to the public. Bring your friends and enjoy your spring planting plans. Choose your quality plants and receive expert gardening advice. The volunteers who tend our gardens will be on hand to advise you, to discuss topics such as preferred soil types and sun and shade requirements, and to assure your new plants maximum chance for success in your garden. On Saturday there will be raffles and food available.
Visa and Mastercard accepted. There is no admission fee and parking is free. The event takes place rain or shine.

Hours: Interpretive Center is open M-F 9am-4pm, Saturday 10am-4pm, closed Sundays.
The hiking trails and parking are free and open every day from dawn to dusk.
Baltimore Woods Nature in the City brings authentic natural science learning to K-6 grade urban school children. Supported by the Syracuse City School District and corporate sponsors, tied to the Syracuse City School District curriculum and New York State Science Standards, lesson content supports teachers while directly impacting students. Holding programs in parks and neighborhood green spaces as well as the classroom, students’ earliest learning experiences in the sciences are relevant, meaningful and fun.
