Proof Positive is a celebration of the history, culture and economics of the wine industry, microbrew movement and distilleries in our region. June 1^st – August 19^th – Summer Exhibitions – Schweinfurth Memorial Art Center, 205 Genesee St., Auburn. Sponsored by the Nelson B. Delavan Foundation. Super Saturated: Pigment & Pattern is an exhibition of 29 works by 10 contemporary artists that use paint, collage, and mixed media to create vibrant works that emphasize color and pattern. Fold & Unfold: The Cloth and Quilts of Elin Noble will include approximately 20 works by Massachusetts-based fiber artist Elin Noble. Author of the book, Dyes and Paints, Noble is known for her quilts that incorporate hand-dyed cloth. Recent work by Skaneateles artist Thérèse Verley Strodel will be on view in Gallery Julius. Tap dancer Dustin “Toes” MacGrath, and pianist Tristan “Fingers” St. Claire have managed to talk a major Broadway producer into coming to see their show in two weeks: a boy meets girl tap dance spectacular on the theme of love. But there’s a problem: first, they haven’t written it yet, secondly they don’t have a girl, and sadly, they have no idea whatsoever about love. As the deadline approaches, everything becomes swept up in a series of dazzling numbers and comical scenes as their theme “Love” begins to derail the show. Aug. 11^th – Following the Flow; A Tale of Two Erie Canals – Erie Canal, Cayuga County. We will start the day at 9am, park at the Montezuma Fire House, for a two hour walking tour that will cover many of the great sites in and around the Hamlet of Montezuma and in the new Heritage Park. As we walk along, you will learn about the first Erie, known as Clinton’s Ditch, the Enlarged Canal, the Cayuga Seneca Canal and the current Barge Canal. Join them on a rollercoaster ride through 9 months of pregnancy and the first 3 challenging months of caring for their new baby. Along the way the couple contends with a barrage of well-intentioned, unsolicited advice from other parents eager to share their experiences, especially the horror stories! Benny desires to leave their ancestral home in an effort to evade the humans, but the troupe, led by the powerful Bongo, opts for the ‘easy life’ of clowning for tourists and stealing from them.
