Making Movies Contemporary Film & Video Series

This series showcases filmmakers and media artists from all over New York State. The screenings are held at Auburn Public Theater Cinema, 108 Exchange Street; suggested admission is $5.

Video artist, teacher and project coordinator Terry Cuddy shared, “This will be ‘Making Movies’ ninth year! I started the series in 2004 with Stephanie Schuster from the Schweinfurth Memorial Art Center (SMAC), with the goal of bringing world class media artists to Auburn. These artists show their work, and then discuss their creative process. Our intent was to inspire people to make their own videos. Sometimes the artists also present to my class at BOCES and share their work with my students.”

Schweinfurth Program Director Allison Mitura shared more about the collaboration with Cuddy and the program’s funders. “Terry is an amazing partner. His knowledge of the field is broad and current and he chooses a range of interesting artists to introduce to the Auburn community. ‘Making Movies’ is funded by the New York State Council on the Arts Electronic Media and Film grants as well as The Arts Council of the Southern Finger Lakes Presentation Funds. Finally, Making Movies is also funded by the Everett Charitable Trust. I am excited about the expansion of the series this year with the addition of the residency at BOCES. Students will be Making Movies right here in Auburn.”
