      April 19th - Creative Lighting Creations – Schweinfurth Memorial Art Center, 205 Genesee St., Auburn.  Using a basic lighting kit, participants will design creative lighting fixtures using found objects like glass bottles, straws, or silverware. Artist and teacher Robert Loring often creates art using repurposed objects. Create unique lamps, sconces, and other lighting creations will add a unique recycled artistic touch to any home.       April 20th – 22nd – ”The Fantasticks” – Auburn Public Theater, 108 Genesee St., Auburn.  “The Fantasticks,” is hosted by Carnytown Productions and Produced by Tom Hoey, with Simon Moody, Jack Sherman and Joel Weirick as co-producers. The Auburn production of “The Fantasticks” with book and lyrics by Tom Jones and music by Harvey Schmidt is now celebrating its 51st year.       April 21st- Through the Eyes of Fanny Seward:  A Family Friendly Tour of the Seward House Museum – Seward House Museum, 33 South St., Auburn.  Families will have the opportunity to experience the Seward House through the eyes of William Seward’s daughter, Fanny.  Drawing heavily from Fanny’s extensive diaries, a guide playing Fanny will give a first-person account of her life, touching on the topics of abolition, women’s rights, her family’s experience during the Civil War, and what it was like to be a child during the 19th century.  Appropriate for Grades 4-12.  10:00 am – 11:30 am or 2:00 pm – 3:30 pm, $10/adults, $8/children 12 & under.  www.sewardhouse.org   315-252-1283    

    

 

 

 

      April 22nd - Pizza & Petals – Sterling Nature Center, 15380 Jenzvolt Rd., Sterling.  Homemade Pizza (noon) & Wildflower Walk (1pm).  On Earth Day treat yourself to some of Nature’s spring beauties, trillium, hepatica and other woodland wildflowers. At 1pm naturalist and Sterling Nature Center Director Jim D’Angelo will led a walk along the trails of the nature center for a look at some of nature’s beautiful woodland wildflowers. Identification, natural history and interesting facts about the spring woodland wildflowers will be discussed on this walk. culture, Abenaki Indian and Old Forge resident, Andree Dennis Newton, will design a dynamic

 

mask. Using the popular Adirondack bird as subject, she will use a hard-shell gourd as the base,

 

adding detail with burning pen, dremel, and acrylic paint. Feathers and beads will be added to
