throughout the day on Skaneateles Lake and the Erie Canal will have a pirate theme.

Thanksgiving plays held at Auburn Public Theater, whose entrance is located on Exchange Street mall.
Other pre-parade activities all take place at Genesee Mall (located on the corner of Genesee and South Streets in Downtown Auburn ) or in the immediately adjacent Exchange Street mall area.
Parade begins on the corner of East Genesee and Fulton Streets.  It comes down Genesee Street through Downtown and turns left at William Street .  It then turns past the parking garage and ends at City Hall.
The Civic Band will play near the finish line for the parade.  This is also where the bonfire and tree lighting ceremony will be held.
Visits with Santa Claus and the Bob Lyna sing-a-long will also take place at the Genesee Mall.

[Skaneateles, NY]  Creekside Books & Coffee, an independent bookstore and coffeehouse in Skaneateles, is pleased to announce its fourth annual local author day celebration.  Authors include, Dan Roche, Matthew Dunn, Thomas Phillips, Bob Molinari, Rachael Ikins, Barbara Florance and Norman O. Keim. Authors will spend 15 minutes each presenting their work. Following the presentations, enjoy refreshments and time to linger, chat with the authors and get books signed.

Before the picnics, parade and fireworks, you’ll get a chance to exercise,
compete and have fun in an unusual and unbelievable series of events
over the holiday weekend. This five-event weekend has something
for all ages of sports enthusiasts and spectators alike.

So check out all the events listed on the left, mark your calendar and plan
to be in Skaneateles for the weekend! We’ll see you in the Village!

 

2 Mile Bicycle Time Trial coonhill_race

Date: Sunday, August 31st 2008

Starting Time: 12:30pm

Race Description: New this year as part of our three event Sunday
is a two mile bicycle time trial. The event will be held at the Skaneateles Ski
Center located on Rt 174 in Marietta just south of St Rt 20. The time trial
starts at the entrance of the Ski Club On Rt 174 and travels south for only
2/10ths of a mile before turning right onto the legendary Coon Hill Road. Riders
now face a very scenic and challenging 8/10ths of a mile climb before hitting
the top. Now for the equalizer for those skinny climbers, cyclist will then turn
right (north) onto Rose Hill Road which is flat and fast into the finish one
mile down the road.

T-shirt and goodie bag to each participant.

Race Packet Pick-up: 3 – 7pm on Friday, August 29th, 2008 at the
Skaneateles Community Center or 10:30 – 11:30am on Race Day at
Skaneateles Ski Club.

Awards: King/Queen of the Hill (overall best time) receives a massage at
Mirbeau Inn and Spa valued at $125. $100 to the fastest male rider, $100 to the
fastest female rider. No duplication of prizes.

Age group awards will be given to the top three finishers in each category.
You must be present to receive your awards.
Awards cannot be sent to you – sorry.
