The day will begin at 10:00 a.m., as shops and pop-up vendors open, and closes at 7:15 p.m. with a hammered dulcimer concert at the Morgan Opera House. Village shops will offer special sales throughout the day, and pop-up vendor stalls will be located at the Aurora Inn at 391 Main Street.
The evening begins at 6:30pm with the lighting of the village Christmas tree at the gazebo next to the United Church of Christ. Then wander down to the Frontenac Museum for music, treats, and fun. When the Community Ensemble begins to play “Here Comes Santa Claus” and you hear sirens in the distance, that’s the sound that tells you the Union Springs Fire Dept. is bringing Santa to the Museum. Enjoy gifts from Santa, a festive concert, and punch and cookies.

Mr. LoMascolo, a talented designer and printer, will relate how our access to books and printed material changed with the invention of the printing press some five hundred-sixty years ago. “At one time books were so rare and valuable that only royalty, the ultra-wealthy and clergy could afford them. In what few libraries existed, it was commonplace for the books to be chained to the shelves.” Mr. LoMascolo will show how changes in technology have changed the look of books, how they are produced, and how these changes have influenced society and world events. Come and have a chance to try letterpress printing for yourself! Robert will have a bookmark set up for you to print and take home, using a small press from the Museum’s collection.
Refreshments will be served and exhibits will be open for viewing. Everyone is welcome. There is no charge, but donations to the Museum are always appreciated.
