Loon Mask Making Demonstration by Andree Dennis Newton. Carrying on the traditions of her
culture, Abenaki Indian and Old Forge resident, Andree Dennis Newton, will design a dynamic
mask. Using the popular Adirondack bird as subject, she will use a hard-shell gourd as the base,
adding detail with burning pen, dremel, and acrylic paint. Feathers and beads will be added to

SKANEATELES, N.Y. – “Medical manufacturer Welch Allyn has completed its global headquarters
expansion and renovation project. The company unveiled the new LEED Gold certified building
headquarters on State Street Road in Skaneateles on Monday. The $35 million project took
nearly four years to complete.
The LEED certification is awarded to buildings that are environmentally responsible. The new
headquarters gets 35 percent of its energy from renewable resources and reduces water usage
by 25 percent.
CEO Julie Shimer says project was about much more than helping out Mother Nature.
“It’s not just the environmental, but it includes the environment. It is a company that cares
about its employees, about its customers and about its community and I’m proud to be a part of
it,” Shimer said.
Eighty percent of the projects construction debris was recycled and 20 percent of building

Baltimore Woods announces Summer Nature Day Camps at 2012

• Summer Nature Day Camp runs from July 9 through August 31 for ages 5-12,
10am to 3pm. The 182-acre property is alive with campers enjoying a week-long
sessions loaded with educational activities and outdoors play.
