Auburn Public Theater

Our Sunday Music Series features local and regional upcoming artists. Alison and Zoë are two Irish-born sisters. They are singer-songwriters who create enchanting harmonies and weave stories with their poetic original songs. They share songs in living rooms, on trains and buses, around fires, on stages, and mostly anywhere else that you might meet them. They are currently working on their first all original album entitled “Emerge.” They hope to one day travel the world sharing their music and learning songs from different cultures.

Singer Songwriter Phil Henry
with percussionist Gary Moon
Opening act: Wendy Ramsay, Joanne Perry & Donna Dennihy
Saturday, August 21st @ 8:00pm
Phil Henry is a singer-songwriter and music educator in West Rutland, Vermont. He sings energetic contemporary folk originals which resemble detailed four-minute short films, with diverse stories and leading characters. His upcoming CD, Robots and Romance, for example, puts the listener insidea bank robbery, a mining disaster, a heart transplant, a hurricane, and the decline of a 50′s drive-in movie theater. Henry’s songs have been honored in many songwriting competitions and showcases, including the Kerrville Folk Festival New Folk Contest and the Falcon Ridge Folk Festival Emerging Artist Showcase. He took first place inthe songwriter contests at SolarFest in Tinmouth, VT and Susquehanna Music and Arts Festival in Havre-De-Grace, MD.
Gary Moon is a singer-songwriter from Lake George, NY, and is afrequent host of the open mic at Saratoga Springs’ famous listening room Caffe Lena. In addition to his performance schedule and promoting his own new CD Big Sky, Gary has lent vocals and hand percussion to Phil and other folk performers. It is not unusual to see him add Djembe, Cajon, shakers, and foot-operated tambourine, sometimes all within the very same song.

Jazz Guitarist/Singer John Pizzarelli Headlines Skaneateles Arts Council Gala

John Pizaarelli, lauded by the Los Angeles Times as “madly creative” and by The Toronto Star as “the genial genius of the guitar,” will perform July 25 at “A Mid-Summer Night’s Dream,” the annual gala of the Skaneateles Area Arts Council.

Festivities will be held lakeside at the Stella Maris Retreat and Renewal Center, a former Roosevelt mansion on Skaneateles Lake. The program will run from 6 to 10 p.m. and include cocktails; dining al fresco by Chris Kuhns, executive chef of Phoebe’s Restaurant and the Sherwood Inn; and an intimate concert by Pizzarelli.

Skaneateles residents Jean McGlynn and Fouad Dietz are co-chairs of the gala. Dr. Robert Kiltz, owner of CNY Healing Arts and CNY Fertility Centers, is the artist sponsor. Proceeds will support the Arts Council’s cultural events and community grants program. (more…)
