This 25-acre preserve, only yards from Skaneateles Lake, treats hikers to a dramatic view of the 100-foot deep Bear Swamp Creek Ravine. The trail alsoincludes a 65-foot crescent of lakeshore, a good spot to beach a canoe or kayak before hiking up the ridge trail.

March Programs

March 4-April 2, April 15&16 Nature’s Little Explorers: Spring Series 10am-11am

Join us for Nature’s Little Explorers Mini Adventures! This fun-filled six-week series will engage your preschooler through nature crafts and hands-on exploration that will awaken their senses to the wonders of the natural world. Ages 3-5, participants must register for the full series and be accompanied by an adult. $35 for members, $50 for nonmembers. Offered on Wednesdays and Thursdays. March 4- April 26 Art Exhibit at Baltimore Woods: A Sense of Peace

Local photographer Tom Dwyer will open his exhibit with a collection of photographs focusing on nature at Baltimore Woods. A reception will be held on March 13th from 5:30-7:30pm. Admission and parking are free. The gallery is open from Mon-Fri from 9am-4pm and on Saturdays from 10am-4pm. All art work is for sale.

March 13 Star Party: Hello Spring Skies! 8-10pm

Goodbye to winter skies, hello to spring, the planets Jupiter and Venus will be bold and bright! Back up date March 14th. $5 for members, $8 for nonmembers. To register, call Baltimore Woods at (315) 673-1350.

March 14 Winter Farmers Market 10-1pm

Visitors to the market will enjoy a diverse mix of local farm and artisanal food products from top regional producers. Held on the second Saturday of each month through April. Indoors at Baltimore Woods in Marcellus, with free parking.

March 20 – April 11 Amphibian Alert!

Each spring during the first warm rainy night after the equinox, hundreds of amphibians creep from underground lairs to vernal pools. To find out when Baltimore Woods Nature Center will attempt to observe this migration at Labrador Hollow, watch for alerts on our website, or call 673-1350 to be put on our alert list. $5 for members, $8 for nonmembers. March 21 Rites of Spring Campfire 4-5:30pm

Celebrate Spring Equinox! Circle around the campfire for storytelling and discover how different cultures welcome the turn of the season. March 28 Living with Backyard Wildlife 11-noon

Spin the backyard battle on its head as you learn about the many inhabitants that call your backyard home. April 6-10 Spring Break Adventure Day Camp – Dr. Seuss Style

It’s spring break! Spend a day or five exploring the wonders of Baltimore Woods, where every day is different, but also somewhat the same. Find salamanders and snails and other forest goods with a Dr. Seuss bent, and fun is the name of the game! $45/child/day. Pre-registration is required. Before and after care are available. April 25, 26 Weekend Wildflower Walks 2-3pm

Baltimore Woods Nature Center’s premier woodland wildflower garden is a local treasure. Join caretaker Audrey Loewer for a pleasant walk through one of the wonders of spring. Each week new species will bloom, and Audrey will reveal their past and present medicinal and culinary uses. The garden is handicap accessible; please call ahead if you need assistance. Donations appreciated.
