Imagine and Imagine That… Gallery Close March 28, 2010 Reopen March 29 at 38 E. Genesee St.

Exhibition by Karen Thomas-Lillie opens April 9, 2010

No, you’re not seeing double.

Starting March 29, Imagine and Imagine That…. will share the gallery’s quarters at 38 E. Genesee St., Skaneateles, while the building in which Imagine is currently housed, 8 E. Genesee St., undergoes a yearlong renovation.

To facilitate the move, both stores will be closed March 28.

On April 9, from 5 to 9 p.m., an opening reception will be held for an exhibition by Karen Thomas-Lillie. The reception, featuring entertainment by The Usual Suspects, an old-time string band, will also serve as April’s Business After Hours for the Skaneateles Area Chamber of Commerce and celebrate the shops’ reopening.

Thomas-Lillie, of Auburn, is a graphic designer and painter with a degree in design and visual communications from the Art Institute of Pittsburgh.

“I paint atmospheric landscapes with oil bar, using only my hands,” she says. “I blur the edges between land, water and sky. Honoring these natural elements results in layers of meditative color that transcend time and place.”

Thomas-Lillie has had shows at the Grove gallery in Aurora, Limestone Art Gallery in Fayetteville, Delavan Art Gallery in Syracuse, Nachotta gallery in Portsmouth, N.H., the Adirondack Arts Center in Blue Mountain Lake, the Schweinfurth in Auburn and the Gallery on Chase Hill in Kennebunkport, Maine.

Three of her paintings—Beach Grass Series I, II and III—were shot for a scene of “The Joneses,” the David Duchovny – Demi Moore comedy opening April 16.

Also over the coming year, Imagine and Imagine That…—in conjunction with Green Hills Market—will adopt a platoon, and will send care packages and donations to Alpha Troop, 1st Platoon, 10th Mountain Division, which will be deployed to Afghanistan in late March. “My brother-in-law, Staff Sgt. Todd Doss, is part of that platoon, so this is a cause that’s near and dear to our hearts,” says Imagine That… co-owner Sarah Panzarella.

Imagine and Imagine That… are open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday.

For more information, call Imagine at 685-6263 or Imagine That… at 685-6264.
