tom adessa Skaneateles, NY

“Butternuts for Rexford”, book #1 of a series for children, was released on Dec10th, 2008. Central New York author Tom Adessa has taken a childhood memory of hand raising a squirrel that had fallen out of its nest and woven that passion for nature into a children’s book. Rexford a red squirrel is afraid of heights and with the help of some new found friends learns to conquer his fear. Not only will children learn about the power of friendships and how to deal with life’s many obstacles, but they will also gain knowledge of nature and be challenged by the dialogue in “Butternuts for Rexford.”

CreeksideBooks, Fennel St., Skaneateles, NY 13152,  Myers Book Binding, Market St, Auburn, NY 13021 and other local booksellers will carry the tale. North Country Books, 220 Lafayette St. Utica, NY will be the primary distributor.

Readings and Signings: On January 17th, 2009 at 1:00pm Creekside Books and Coffee,  35 Fennel Street, Skaneateles will host a reading and book signing of this heartwarming tale. There will be free raffles for the children. Literacy Volunteers of Auburn will receive a portion of the book sales. A fun day for kids and adults alike. Books will be available for purchase.

Quote: “Kids come in all shapes, sizes, peculiarities and intellects. If yours love books, nature, the challenge of new words, and a story that gives them something to think about then “Butternuts for Rexford” might just be the book for them…and for you!”
