Join us August 5th, 6:00 – 9:00 PM for an exhibition of Central New York artist Barry Darling and an exiting collection of new work. Darling’s recent work involves acrylic color, acrylic medium on canvas and paper, and random use of ink transfers and acrylic pastes.
Darling says of his work:

“Ultimately, I am intrigued by the impact of the image, and secondly by an inferred story or ‘view’ from the contemplative act of manipulating familiar colors and images, and hopefully discovering a little something along the way,” he says. “It’s the small revelation that keeps me involved. There’s an excitement in standing aside and letting things happen.”

In addition to one-man shows locally at the Everson Museum of Art, Eureka Gallery and Le Moyne College’s Wilson Gallery, he has had exhibitions at the Castle Gallery in New Rochelle, Fenton Moore Fine Arts in Buffalo, and Waxlander/Khadoure and Adieb Khadoure Fine Art in Santa Fe, N.M.

We hope to see you here to help us enjoy the new work. Refreshments will be served and Entertainment will be provided by the Usual Suspects, a local old time string band. If you have any other questions, please call the gallery at 315-685-6263 or email us at info@imagineskaneateles.com. You can also find us on facebook. Friend us there and keep up to date on new arrivals, new events and new artists.

You know you’ve been waiting for them: the big white tents that each July turn the streets of downtown Skaneateles into a shopper’s paradise.

They, and the bargains they signify, return July 21-23 for Skaneateles’ annual Curbstone Festival.

The event—featuring more than 30 merchants and organized by the Skaneateles Area Chamber of Commerce—runs along Genesee, Jordan and Fennell streets. Hours are 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday and Friday and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday.,

“The Curbstone Festival is a longstanding tradition in the village and an experience not to be missed,” says Susan Dove, executive director of the Skaneateles Area Chamber of Commerce. “It’s so popular that people start asking about the date in January and plan their vacations around it.

“While the sidewalk sales are the draw, the Curbstone Festival is so much more,” she notes. “We have something for everyone—visitors can stroll by the lake or take a Mid-Lakes Navigation cruise, try the village’s fine restaurants, and stay overnight at one of our historic inns or B&Bs. And this year, we’ve expanded the entertainment.”

Visitors can park at metered spots along the street or in the municipal lot (accessed through Genesee or State streets), where two-hour parking is free and all-day parking is $2. Free parking is available at the old firehouse on Fennell Street and on various side streets.
