One of the most popular winter wildlife activities in the US is watching and feeding birds at a feeding station. This program will help you identify the birds at your feeder and show you ways to create simple feeders. Participants will create a peanut butter and seed feeder to take home. A short winter bird walk will follow the indoor program. This program is free and open to the public.

Nesting season has begun for the great horned owls. Join Naturalist Jim D’Angelo for an indoor introduction to the great-horned owl and other New York State owls. Then venture out on an owl prowl looking and listening for the nocturnal kings of the sky. The program is free and open to the public; please remember to dress for the weather.  Snowshoes will be available if needed.

The January full moon is called the Wolf Moon because in days past the wolves could be heard howling at this time of the year. We do not have wolves to listen to but who knows what we might see or hear during a moon walk; owls, fox, deer or other creatures of the winter night. Even if we do not see any wildlife it will be interesting to observe the wetlands, woodlands and fields by the light of the Moon. Snowshoes will be available if needed.
