Fun Fact about the Syracuse area …. did you know …..

.… that the Women’s Championships will make its third trip to Syracuse and 10th visit to the Empire State. The tournament previously was held in Syracuse in1940 and 1954. Both events were held at the Jefferson Bowling Academy and attracted 1,185 and 4,538 teams, respectively. The Women’s Championships has been held in 56 different cities since it began in 1916.

Monica D. Johns has over twenty-five years of technical and business experience, and has held positions with GM, Corning, and GE. Monica has helped to transform businesses from the inside out by focusing on operations to improve quality and productivity, as well as reducing waste and cost.

Her background includes expertise in a variety of areas including compliance, outsourcing initiatives, process improvement, product line management, program and project management, cost modeling, manufacturing, and engineering, just to name a few.

Monica earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering from the State University of New York at Buffalo and her MBA from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.

Fun Fact about the Syracuse area …. did you know …..

.… one industry that made Syracuse prosper was the salt industry. Salt water was drawn from the springs near Onondaga Lake and put into boiling blocks where the water was boiled off and all that was left was the salt. The workers (primarily of Irish decent) would bring a small sack of tiny potatoes with them, set them in the vats, and the potatoes would boil and be ready to eat for lunch. Today, Central New Yorkers still buy salt potatoes in bags and enjoy them at clambakes, picnics or almost any time of the year. Just add a little melted butter on them!! They are even good cold!
