Tuesday, January 25, 2011 Skaneateles Historical Society’s monthly program at the
Creamery, 28 Hannum St. Kihm Winship will talk about the research behind his new book,
“Skaneateles: The Character and Characters of a Lakeside Village,” how he ferreted out some
delightful stories, and discuss all of the resources available to researchers today. Books and signing will be available. 7:30 PM

Wednesday, January 26 Open House at the new offices of the Downtown Auburn BID, 128
Genesee St. 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM for anyone interested in touring their new space. Light
refreshments will be served, and no RSVPs are necessary.

• Skaneateles Artisans will participate in Winterfest’s “Taste of Skaneateles” hosting a
tasting created by Niles Gourmet Bistro. Niles Gourmet is an organic bistro and among the
tastings will be a secret recipe using Elk. Singer, songwriter Jules Poorman of Skaneateles
will provide music. Gallery artists will be doing art demonstrations through out the day.
Skaneateles Artisans will be open 11 am to 5 pm.
• Gallery 54 is participating in Winterfest with a painting demonstration by Kathleen
Schneider from 12 pm-3 pm. There will also be a raffle for a $25 gift certificate and
refreshments will be served. Gallery 54 is an artist cooperative at 54 E. Genesee St,

• The Museum at the Creamery will be open for Winterfest 2011. Come see one of 20
ice sculpture’s in front of our building, have some hot cocoa, and come in to learn about
ice cutting on Skaneateles Lake and see the tools and saw of the ice cutting industry that
used to flourish here. The gift shop will also be open that day. Hours: 12 PM – 3 PM on
the 29th. One of 20 Ice Sculptures on display, sponsored by Tim Lynn, Green & Seifter.
• Holy Trinity Lutheran Church at 37 W. Genesee Street will be part of a Taste of
Skaneateles this year. The Lutherans will be serving “Just Desserts” between 12:30 and 2
PM. Come enjoy assorted delectable desserts with hot coffee and tea. Try as many as you
like. There will also be an opportunity to participate in a Silent Auction and take a
fabulous dessert home with you. A suggested donation of $4 per person or $15 per family
will be collected at the door.
• Look for Ice Sculptures on display in Clift Park and at 1,13, 18, 26, 36, 38, 54, 56, 58
Genesee St.; 8, 19, 22, 28, 33, 38, 39 Jordan St., 12, 35 & 61 Fennell St., and 28
Hannum St. Demonstrations at Byrne Dairy and Sherwood Inn.
• Participate in this years’ Scavenger Hunt. Game instructions will be available from
any Taste ticket booth. Great prizes from Greek Peak Hope Lake Lodge, Skaneateles

Thursday, February 3 Community Preservation Committee at Willard Memorial Chapel will
again hold ist annual funraiser Amateur Chef Night! Local amateur chefs will once again be
preparing and serving hors d’oeuvres, soups and desserts. Springside Inn will be preparing the entrees. All items will be served from stations so guests can mingle and choose their favorites.
This year a new feature has been added. Local chefs who have moved to the professional world
will demonstrate preparation of their signature dishes on the stage at Springside in a “Food
Network” like setting. These dishes will also be on the menu. Wine tasting by Dr. Frank’s Vinifera Wine Cellars, music by Louis Nocilly & Jazzitude, Silent Auctions, and Raffles will round out the evening. 6:00 PM at the Springside Inn Tickets: $40.00 each Thursday, Friday & Saturday February 3, 4 & 5 Skaneateles Middle School Drama club presents getting to know Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Oklahoma!
