…that Jamesville Reservoir was originally created to feed the Erie Canal and control Butternut Creek. Jamesville Dam was completed in 1874. Today, the reservoir is surrounded by private homes and one of Onondaga County’s favorite parks, Jamesville Beach. Covering about 252 acres, it is still operated by the NYS Canal Corporation.
