Please present military or veteran organization ID cards or military discharge documents or wear your uniform for verification for complimentary Veterans Day access to the Zoo.

After the family’s full on everything apple, dress up the kids for a superbly un-scary monster bash at The Great Zoo Boo at the Rosamond Gifford Zoo, Fridays and Saturdays, October 17, 18, 24 and 25 2008. With fun, interactive characters, a hay bale maze, and play areas like Creepy Corners to explore, kids will have a ball. Whoever said Halloween had to be frightening to be fun? Kick Freddie Krueger to the curb, kids.

Rosamond Gifford Zoo to Host Zoo Boo
Annual event provides family friendly Halloween entertainment

Syracuse, NY (October 1, 2007) – The great Zoo Boo is coming to the Rosamond Gifford Zoo at Burnet Park on Fridays and Saturdays, October 19, 20, 26, and 27 from 6:00 to 8:30 p.m.  With its “kooky not spooky” theme and its hauntingly hilarious interactive characters and sets, Zoo Boo allows children and families to have Halloween fun without the fear. 

“This is a wonderful event for families,” says Janet Agostini, Executive Director of Friends of the Zoo.  “The characters and decorations add to the experience, which is fun for people of all ages.” 

The zoo will be transformed into a Halloween spooktacular hosted by such characters as the Mayor of Creepy Corners and the Grave Digging Duo.  Zoo Boo evenings are meant to be enlightening and not frightening.   Young visitors will see the not-so-scary side of the zoo’s creepy crawly and “Halloweeny” animals in a special Halloween Zoo to You education presentation.  Costumes are optional and children will receive a treat as they exit the zoo.

Saturdays will also feature a carved pumpkin contest that culminates in a Pumpkin Parade and an adult and child contest winner; participants should bring their already carved pumpkins to the zoo at 5:45 p.m. on Saturday nights.
